Why We Celebrate Catholic Education

Catholic Schools Week is a national celebration that is entering its 46th year! CSW is typically held during the last week of January, from January 26th to February 1st. Catholic schools, like Lakeland Catholic schools, observe the week with Masses, assemblies, and other activities for students, families, parishioners, and community members to come together and congratulate. This year’s theme is “Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” Here’s why we celebrate.

Academic Accomplishments
Our Polk County private school students score well above the national and state averages on standardized tests. Ninety-eight percent of our seniors went to college this past year and have earned more than $25 million in scholarships. Our schools are Blue Ribbon schools, which are designated by the U.S. Department of Education. Schools that are selected for this prestigious award display excellence in leadership, teaching, curriculum, student achievement, and parental involvement.

STREAM Curriculum
The small class sizes, rigorous academics, enriching activities, and individualized attention set us up for success. Our curriculum provides students with a comprehensive education in all of the core subjects, including English, mathematics, science, and social studies. Additionally, we offer additional enrichment courses like religion, physical education, computer science, art, music, drama, Spanish, and communication arts. Middle schools and high schools provide students with opportunities for advanced-level coursework. The STREAM curriculum model combines education and life together, which prepares students for the future because it provides students the opportunity to explore and evaluate through critical thinking and problem-solving.

Faith and Service
A big part of the Catholic curriculum is faith and service. Serving together is what makes our facilities educational communities. We encourage students and their families to build bonds through service and cooperation. Students excel when they feel like they belong to a community. We consider ourselves more than just schools; we are family, serving each other and Jesus Christ.

Forming remarkable human beings for a better tomorrow, Lakeland Catholic schools prepare students to lead, inspire, and excel through their academic years and beyond. We want to help showcase what makes Catholic schools the best when families are searching for the right school for them. During Catholic Schools Week, attend open houses to take a look at our incredible schools and what we offer.

At Lakeland Catholic schools, we foster an atmosphere of care and an environment of high expectations and effective discipline. To learn more about what makes us different, contact the Office of Catholic Schools at the Diocese of Orlando by dialing 407-246-4800.
