School Leaders Graduate From Emmaus Leadership Series

The Emmaus Leadership Series is a powerful, leadership development program for Catholic school principals and heads of schools. It is designed to cultivate transformative leaders in Catholic education. We are honored to announce that two school leaders from our diocese, Lou Pereira, President of Trinity Catholic, and Deborah Schwope, Principal of Resurrection Catholic School, are now graduates of the Emmaus Cohort Series 16!The Emmaus Leadership Series spans over the course of 20 months, emphasizing training in three core areas: spiritual leadership, curriculum and instructional leadership, and operational leadership. Throughout their time, Pereira and Schwope engaged in mentoring, retreats, workshops, and webinars. The program teaches participants a variety of skills, including how to establish a change-management team, actualize the potential of diversity in the learning community, and develop effective, professional learning communities and networks for the staff. We are so proud to have school leaders who are dedicated to professional development. They align the joy of the Gospel with all aspects of school life, evaluate and encourage teacher growth, and demonstrate a visible commitment to their school’s missions. They consistently invest in the faith of their community members, both students and faculty alike. They empower teams to successfully manage daily operations and provide our students with the best Catholic education."The Emmaus Leadership Series Cohort allowed me to work with Catholic principals from around our nation,” said Schwope. “The collaboration with these leaders expanded my perspective and engaged us all in dynamic discussions that we brought back to our communities. Being part of the Emmaus Leadership Series allowed me to see that through the lights of each of our schools, we light and shape the future with our students."Schwope and Pereira are well-equipped to make their schools’ missions and visions a tangible, sustainable reality. We are excited about the future of Catholic education where we can continue to create academic environments that are challenging and compassionate, and inspire students to thrive in excellence. At private schools in Lakeland, FL, we foster an atmosphere of care and an environment of high expectations and effective discipline.
