Science Apps for Kids

Your child likes to explore, and thanks to phone apps, your child can practice science lessons right at home! From physics to chemistry, your little scientist can learn so much from a phone or tablet. There is something for all ages, and we’ve got a list of apps we recommend.

Bobo Explores Light
Perfect for ages nine to 11, Bobo Explores Light teaches your child about holograms, photosynthesis, and more. The science storybook covers 21 topics related to light, incorporating media like videos and games hosted by a robot named Bobo. 

Coaster Physics
Your budding physicist will learn all about kinetic energy, speed, force, and other physicals concepts with Coaster Physics. This innovative app gives your child the opportunity to design his own roller coaster tracks. Designers apply physics concepts in this easy-to-use app, then watch their coasters fly!

Solar Walk
For ages two and older, Solar Walk is an award-winning app that gives your child the opportunity to explore the solar system. He will read all about the planets, learn about space missions, view satellite models, travel through space, and watch movies about Earth. Your child will get a bird’s-eye view of an entire galaxy in this realistic app that offers 3-D images. You’ll need a pair of 3-D glasses!

Kid Weather
Kid Weather was actually designed by a six-year-old boy and his dad who is a meteorologist. The father-son duo wanted a method to teach children the basics of weather elements. The app comes with a variety of enriching activities that allow your child to change weather conditions, calculate fahrenheit and celsius, and participate in weather-related trivia. While learning concepts in meteorology, he will also receive safety tips related to lightning, thunder, and more!

Alchemy
Introduce your child to genetics with the Alchemy app. Your child will find out what would happen when you combine various animal traits to create new breeds. He will begin with four animals and end with 500 new species. For ages five and older, the app is free for Android!

My Incredible Body
My Incredible Body is a must-have for children to learn what goes on inside of their bodies. It’s full of an unbelievable amount of information. Short animated videos give your child a personal tour of the human body, where your child can tap bones and organs. The immersive app is available on iPhone/iPad and Android.
